The Guardian commissioned Ateneo 21 to create and deliver a Spanish for Current Affairs programme. The goal was to train the foreign desk editor to be able to read Spanish newspapers around the world. The Spanish course was delivered one a week at lunch breaks over a two year period and included a combination of in-company language training and private tuition. The delegate completed four levels: Breakthrough Spanish A1, Waystage Spanish A2, Threshold Spanish B1 and Vantage Spanish B2 and started to cover Proficiency Spanish C1 in that period.

A case of relocation
WWP Group Plc needed an immersion Spanish course to prepare one of their employees who was imminently relocating to Madrid. The Spanish course took place two full days a week to allow the participant to make early progress and rapidly achieve basic competencies. The course participant achieved excellent results, covering four levels (Breakthrough Spanish A1, Waystage Spanish A2, Threshold Spanish B1 and Vantage Spanish B2) in three months. Some sessions were geared to working in advertising in Spanish.

The opening of Freggo
Gaucho commissioned Ateneo 21 to provide an immersion Spanish course in preparation for the opening of their ice-cream shop, Freggo, in Swallow Street, central London. The intensive Spanish course took place 3 hours every day for three months and then continued as once a week Spanish evening classes. The course participant covered four levels in that period (Breakthrough Spanish A1, Waystage Spanish A2, Threshold Spanish B1 and Vantage Spanish B2) and started to conduct business trips to Argentina in preparation for the opening of her shop.

Hudsons Properties, an independent estate agency in central London, commissioned Ateneo 21 to provide an in-company small group Spanish course to prepare the owner and two directors to deal more effectively with an increasingly international clientele. The Spanish course takes place once or twice a week in the afternoon and ensures that the delegates with no time to study learn as intuitively as possible and develop their speaking skills in order to start conducing business in Spanish.

Multilingual executives
Oliver Wyman needed an intensive Spanish course for one of its multilingual executives. The Spanish course took place twice a week over a two and a half year period. The programme was topic based and developed all the four language skills: listening, speaking, writing and reading- with an emphasis on communication. The delegate completed five levels: Breakthrough Spanish A1, Waystage Spanish A2, Threshold Spanish B1 and Vantage Spanish B2 and Proficiency Spanish C1. By the end of the Spanish course, the delegate began to conduct business presentations in Madrid.
Translation of legal contracts
Film distribution in Spain
Momentum Pictures has been commissioning Ateneo 21 to translate legal agreements that are used to negotiate and sign film distribution deals. The contracts are translated from Spanish into English. Momentum Pictures started in 2000 and now releases around 20 titles a year, theatrically as well as a number of DVD titles. The company handles the release of this films in Spain and Andorra as well as the marketing and circulation of films for home viewing (DVD, Video-On-Demand, Dowload, Television, etc).

Relocating to Spain
Gefco needed an in-company Spanish course to prepare one of its employees who was planning to move to Spain with his Spanish speaking family. The Spanish course took place once a week early in the morning in Gefco's office in Chiswick for one year and covered two Spanish beginner levels: Spanish. The delegate completed the two beginner levels: Breakthrough Spanish A1 and Waystage Spanish A2 and learned strategies to continue learning with his family and when abroad.

MTS Group Italy needed in-company Spanish training for one of its multilingual executives. The Spanish course took place once a week during lunch breaks at their offices in central London. This was a Mastery Spanish course (C2) for a delegate that needed to be operational at business meetings and work with the financial press in Spanish.

Course assessment
A Hotcourses delegate took part in one of Ateneo 21's evening Spanish course that took place as once a week. The goal was to provide a small group of students with a sound foundation in Spanish covering the beginner level Breakthrough Spanish A1. Learning languages is an integral part of the job of Hotcourses employees as they are continually assessing language course providers in London. They also have more personal reasons like enjoying holidays in Spanish speaking countries.

It was an intermediate level Spanish course covering Threshold Spanish B1. The Spanish course took place once a week in Shepherd's Bush, west London. The Spanish course aimed mainly to revise, consolidate, and also develop the delegate's knowledge of the language and his speaking skills.
